Mountain Safety Management
…Its not a matter of “If”, it’s a matter of “When”…
There is an age old saying in the mountain community: it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. This is in reference to when an accident may occur. Put the odds in your favor by getting your crew a step ahead by having professional risk management and rescue plans. With athletes pushing farther in mountains, stepping on bigger terrain and accepting more risk it is imperative to have response plans in place.
Mountain Safety Management is more than just training, its putting professional personnel in the field with your crew during remote backcountry filming. Having an on site risk manager gives riders a chance to discuss inherent risks, likely hood of hazards and how to manage any associated dangers to more safely ride the terrain.
The most important, and often over looked aspect of operating deep in the backcountry is knowing what to do when something goes wrong. A crucial role of Mountain Safety Management is to provide critical medical care on site and coordinate rescue efforts. West Wind provides professional response plans that are tailored to the area of operation. Having professional response plans and medical resources in place greatly decreases the likely hood of complications in the event an accident may occur.
